I hope all you lovely Americans had a good Thanksgiving 
I watched a Thanksgiving episode of Friends, it was good too 
Today I’ve got a big post for you, it’s the OPI Best of the Best collection!
Ten of the ‘best’ [I guess best here means most well known/consistent sellers] polish colours in mini bottles.
And here they are!
Alpine Snow.
3 coats + Seche Vite top coat. Standard white creme. Not too chalky, a little streaky but three coats smooths it out.
Bubble Bath.
3 coats, no top coat.
Bubble Bath is a sheer baby pink. I am not a fan of sheers, mainly because my nails are stained and sheers don’t look so great on them.
Tickle My France-y. [I hate this name!]
3 coats, no top coat.
This polish is an interesting colour. It’s taupe with a bit more of a coffee colour in it. It’s a bit sheer too, still some VNL with three coats.
Strawberry Margarita.
3 coats, no top coat.
Even though I’m not a pink polish fan, I love this one. It’s the ideal hot Barbie pink creme that everyone needs in their polish collection.
Cajun Shrimp.
3 coats, no top coat.
This is a coral orange creme which is fitting with the name. I didn’t actually mind this one, it’s not as harsh as a bright red but it’s still summer-y.
Big Apple Red.
3 coats, no topcoat.
The bright red creme that everyone and their Mum will have in their collection somewhere. I like the name for this, it’s very fitting for a bright red creme.
I’m Not Really a Waitress.
3 coats, no topcoat.
One of OPI’s most famous classic shades, a deep shimmery red. It’s a bit too dark for me, too ‘femme fatale’ but I can see why it’s a classic shade and a good pick for this collection.
You Don’t Know Jacques!
3 coats, no topcoat.
Another OPI classic, YDKJ is a warm taupe that reminds me of melted chocolate. Another safe pick for the collection.
Russian Navy.
3 coats + Seche Vite topcoat.
I adore this colour, my definite favourite of the collection. A deep shimmery navy with red sparks. I’m so glad this was included.
Lincoln Park After Dark.
2 coats, no topcoat.
I’m not a fan of blackened purples/vampy colours like this, I guess I just don’t ‘get’ why you’d make a colour look like black even though it isn’t? Well, regardless, it’s in the collection.
Alright, so that’s the ten. Here’s what I think. It’s a fine collection, lots of safe bets and sure things in it. Pinks and reds make up a lot of the set which I guess is to be expected.
If I could make an OPI Best of the Best collection, here are the ten polishes I would include:
- Creme de Menthe
- Rainforest
- Real Teal
- DS Original
- Mad as a Hatter
- Catch Me in Your Net
- Merry Midnight
- My Private Jet [holographic version, obviously ]
- Vampire State Building
- Damone Roberst 1968.
…fine, I guess this is more of a OPI’s Most Popular and Difficult to Find Polishes collection, but still!
So what do you think, is the original Best of the Best your pick, or, if you could make your own, what would you include? I’d love to know what your collections would be

I guess those of us who peruse nail blogs have a different mindset of what would constitute our “Top 10″/Best of the Best. Now you’ve got me thinking about what I’d include!
Of course it’s not bad that you like Bubble Bath haha, it’s just not really my kind of colour I guess, but thanks!

I have to agree, not Best Of The Best for me but I do like Russian Navy and Lincoln Park After Dark, though. They should have included Ink, MPJ holo or Absolutely Alice as I love those polishes

Great swatches, thanks for posting. My OPI top ten would also probably include some less mainstream more greens, blues and purples, but all of these are great colors too, thinking of getting Cajun Shrimp after seeing your pic

Great swatches! I tend to agree with you, although most of these are good colors, it’s more of an “OPI Playing it Safe” Collection as opposed to “Best of the Best.” But hey, most people out there buying OPI aren’t polish fanatics like us, so I’m sure it will be a very good seller for OPI!
I think that the best of the best OPIs should consist of:
- DS Original
- DS Glamour
- Absolutely Alice
- Mad as a Hatter
- Peel Me a Gobi Grape
- Rainforest
- MPJ Holo
- Merry Midnight
- Jade is the New Black
- Black Shatter (even though I dislike crackle/shatter polishes, you can’t deny that OPI’s Black Shatter sent the polish world into a frenzy)
Man, for a collection of “bests” I haven’t even heard of half of them! Cajun Shrimp, Strawberry Margarita and Russian Navy look awesome though. I’m not experienced enough to OPI to even come up with 10 favourites, but I do like Dim Sum Plum, Jade is the New Black and the glitters in the new Muppets collection
